Harland has his own Radio Show!!!

I don't know how many of you check harlandwilliams.com regularly or if you have him friended over on myspace but Harland has conquired another showbiz medium. His show runs from 3-7pm, and the station is based in Colorado so I'm unsure of the exact time for time zones. For central time it's 4-6 I believe. You can stream it online right here.

Harland Contact Info [08 Feb 2006|10:43am]

kingofthule
Hi there guys!

I am a journalism student, and I am looking to do an article on Harland Williams. I'm doing a profile about a comedian who makes the move from stand-up to film and or television.
I would love it if you guys could provide me with any contact info, any at all. Phone numbers, e-mails or anything would be great. People who know Harland, or people who know people who know Harland, it is wide open.

Thanks a bunch!

Of course, the entire four nights Harland is in Boston just so happens to be the four nights that I am in Maine on vacation. Because EVERYONEISAGAINSTME.

On a better note, I'm pretty sure that I laughed quite hard when Harland asked Craig "Have you ever made love so hard that you saw the Loch Ness Monster?"

Genius.

Living large

By Ed Will
Denver Post Staff Writer

Comedian Harland Williams no longer books gigs in the little mining towns and lumberjack camps of Canada.

He started out in 1983 doing open-mic nights at a comedy club in Toronto, where he worked as a mail clerk for the police department.

It was not an auspicious start.

"Five minutes of fat mother jokes in Toronto," Williams said of his first time onstage. "I think one of my first ones was, 'My mother is so fat she eats cereal out of a satellite dish,' something like that. And that is how it started."

Williams hits Denver for the first time this weekend, playing two nights at the Comedy Works.

The circuit he plays these days is a step up from the club circuit in the Canadian outback, where mom jokes might get you thrashed by the woman herself.

"My first seven years were up there, playing the little mining towns and the lumberjack camps and some of the cities," he said.

Two years after he first stepped in front of a microphone, Williams' comedy career reached the don't-

look-back point. He resigned from the police department in 1985 and became a full-time comic. "I haven't delivered a letter since," he said.

Williams spent the next five years touring Canada from coast to coast, making a comfortable living. He had established himself well enough that he knew he could stay on that treadmill forever.

But Williams grew up believing that fate had more in store for him than working the club circuit in the Great White North.

"I'd skip school and go watch an afternoon matinee," he said. "And I'd just go, 'Man, I'm going to be up there one day.' I just had this feeling. Didn't know why, I just did."

Fifteen years ago, he pulled up stakes and moved to Los Angeles. He made an immediate impact in his new hometown.

"I remember my very first night onstage," Williams said. "I did six minutes at a club in Hollywood, and I came offstage and was offered two TV shows like those 'Evening at the Improv'-type of shows. It just blew my mind, because in Canada I had been doing comedy for seven years, and nothing."

His career grew to include appearances on other TV shows. He rubbed shoulders with David Letterman and Conan O'Brien. He landed his first movie role in 1994's "Dumb and Dumber."

He has appeared in 17 other movies, including "Rocketman," "Half Baked," "Wag the Dog," "The Whole Nine Yards," "Freddy Got Fingered" and "There's Something About Mary."

Lately he can be heard as the voice of Lug, the big green robot in "Robots."

"It is just so fun to be in these types of movies," Williams said. "They're the biggest movies out there now days."

Along with his stand-up shows and his TV and film work, Williams writes and draws children's books and creates one-of-a-kind illustrated T-shirts that he sells on his elaborate, self-titled website.

He is also voicing a Disney animated film, "A Day With Wilbur Robinson," scheduled to hit theaters in 2006.

"It just keeps going," Williams said, "which is why you gotta love it here."

New Movie [15 Mar 2005|06:16pm]

mariesakithfan
I don't know if you guys knew about this or not, I forgot to post about it, sorry. Harland's in a new movie called Lucky 13. It was just released on DVD today. I found a copy at my local Blockbuster. The movie is one of those regular romantic comedy type things. Nothing special about that(in fact I think the movie was kinda lame) but if your a big Harland fan like me it's way worth it to see. He gets second billing, and of course he *is* the best thing about the movie. Facial expressions are hilarious and it's fun watching him play a character that thinks he's gods gift to women.(which I think Harland really is but remember i'm bias! :)

Wag the Dog [12 Nov 2004|02:17pm]

[ mood | bored ]

If you are a huge Harland fan, I would not recommend renting "Wag the Dog". He has such a small part, and in my opinion, it was a boring movie. Not to say that any of you wouldn't like it, thats just my experience.

Look Marie, I posted!! :)
